[Also in Division F2] Linkwork for applying a variable force to a work engager 19 in a lens polishing machine comprises a lever 20 mounted on a pivot 22 and having one end 24 acting on the work engager 19 and the other end acted upon by a spring 28 the tension of which may be varied by a handle lock assembly 30. The spring 28 is attached to the end of an arm 42 of the assembly 30, the arm 42 being integral with a cam 31 having a cylindrical portion 32 and flat cam surface 44. A handle 34 is clamped to a bush 36 which is rotatably mounted on cam 32 and has a cut out portion 50 which receives a roller 38 which is retained by a cover 40 secured to a fixed support 52a. The work engager 19 comprises a spacer bar 18 having pins 16 drivingly engaging a lens block 14 to which is attached the lens blank 12; a lap 10 has irregular movements in a plane. |
