PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image storage device which analyzes fault information from each image storage unit via a terminal installed remotely, efficiently rewrites a control program and rewrites the control program even when a recording operation is not stopped. SOLUTION: A self-diagnosing means 240 has a diagnosing result storage unit 242 for storing obtained diagnosing result information; an overall control unit 243 having an overall control program for controlling the operation of the entire device; and a state managing unit 244 for storing the diagnosing result information from the diagnosing result storage means 242 provided in an own device and other device, storing a restoring program for restoring the overall control means 243, and transmitting the restoring program when the fault is present from the stored diagnosing result information.
