New rare earth metal tungstates useful as ultraviolet protection agents in plastic, paint, glass, textile or cosmetic products

Rare earth metal tungstates are new. Rare earth metal tungstates of formula (I)-(V) are new; (Ln1-xCex)6WO12+y (I); Ln'2(W1-zMoz)vO3v-3 (II); Ln'6W1-zMozO12 (III); Ln'10(W1-zMoz)2O21 (IV); Ln'14(W1-zMoz)4O33 (V); Ln = a rare earth metal other than Ce; Ln' = a rare earth metal; x, z = 0-1 (exclusive); y = 0-2 (inclusive); v = 1, 2 or 3. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a process for producing the tungstates; (2) a plastic, paint, glass, textile or cosmetic product comprising a tungstate as above as a UV protection agent.
