MPEG DATA RECORDING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording method for realizing seamless reproduction with high quality without causing overflow or underflow to a connection to a VBV buffer in connecting first MPEG picture data to second MPEG moving picture data. SOLUTION: After data for a joint section A of first MPEG picture data are decoded, the data for the joint section are re-encoded. The re-encoding is carried out under the control that transition of a VBV buffer occupied value is started from the VBV buffer occupied value at a position (a) and finished until the VBV buffer occupied value at a position (d). Then the first MPEG picture data are reproduced until the position (a) of the first MPEG picture data, then the recorded MPEG picture data for the joint section A are reproduced, the first MPEG picture data are connected to the position (d) of the second MPEG picture data and the second MPEG picture data after the position (d) are reproduced rate for the compression system.
