PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure mercury lamp with a reflecting mirror increasing projection light to a screen, with a long service life. SOLUTION: This high pressure mercury lamp with the reflecting mirror 1000 is composed of a double end type high pressure mercury lamp 1150 having first and second sealing parts 101a, 1101b extended from both ends of a luminous part 100 and a reflecting mirror 300. The reflecting mirror 300 has a wide opening part installed on the outgoing radiation side and a narrow opening part for fixing the high pressure mercury lamp 150, the first sealing part 101a of the high pressure mercury lamp is fixed to the vicinity of the narrow opening part of the reflecting mirror 300, and the second sealing part 1101b of the high pressure mercury lamp is arranged on the wide opening part side of the reflecting mirror 300. The second sealing part 1101b has a shape in which an outer diameter of the end part side is smaller than that on the luminous part 100 side.
