PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To comfortably read information acquired from a server at a sub-unit in a communication apparatus composed of a main unit and sub-units. SOLUTION: A facsimile (main unit) 20 is connected to an L-mode gateway via a public line 15 so that information retrieval is possible. A wirelessly connected sub-unit 120 instructs the main unit 20 to acquire information, and the main unit 20 transmits text-base data among texts and picture data acquired from the L-mode gateway to the sub-unit 120. Since the text-base data are sent, the information can be transferred for a short time even via a radio line having a low transmission rate between the main unit and the sub-units.
