Manufacture of a pouring or orifice tube in which a cylindrical metallic ferrule (3) is mounted on a support (4) involves coaxially positioning an internal tube (5) with respect to the ferrule, filling the annular space between the tubes with an effectively dry refractory-sintering compound, and heating the assembly to harden the composition and or remove all traces of water. The effectively dry refractory-sintering compound comprises a dry binder that self-hardens or hardens when heated. The internal tube used in manufacture is of refractive material, e.g. self-pouring refractive concrete. An Independent claim is given for the manufactured pouring or orifice tube.
