PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable radio apparatus having high antenna performance during call time and capable of making the body thinner during non-call time. SOLUTION: The portable radio apparatus includes a reverse F-antenna 5 provided on a base plate inside an upper frame 1, a parasitic element 6 provided away at a prescribed distance from the reveres F-antenna 5, and a means for projecting the parasitic element 6 outside from the upper frame box 1 in conjunction with a prescribed operation. The means for projecting the parasitic element 6 from the upper frame box 1 includes a wire 10A with one end connected on the side of the parasitic element 6 inside the upper frame 1 and the other end connected on the side of a lower frame 2.
