<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an array antenna system and a method of suppressing grating, both of which can be applied to radar equipment to suppress grating and, in addition, to expand the scanning range. SOLUTION: The array antenna system contains a transmission processing section, having a transmission array antenna 2 constituted of a plurality of antenna elements S1 and S2, a phase shifter 9 connected to the antenna 2, etc., and a reception processing section, having a reception array antenna 1 constituted of a plurality of antenna elements R1-R9, a signal processor 4 connected to the antenna 1, etc. In the method of suppressing grating, the angle of null point on the grating suppressing-side and a grating occurring angle on the grating suppressed side are set, so that the angles may become coincident with each other of approximate to each other by using either one of the array antennas 1 and 2 as the grating suppressing side and the other as the grating suppressed side. In addition, the grating suppressing side is controlled, by causing the side to follow continuously or intermittently at prescribed scanning angle the scanning on the grating suppressed side.</p> |
