PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a television camera that needs no power switching circuit or DC voltage conversion circuit in a camera head and is provided with a simplified compact power supply circuit, in a television camera in which a composite cable is used to transmit a data or a power supply signal between a CCU and a camera head. SOLUTION: A DC voltage is superimposed on an intercom circuit in standby mode in a CCU to isolate the DC voltage element from an intercom signal by using a power supply isolation circuit in a camera head, thereby operating an intercom circuit. The DC element is superimposed on an intercom return signal from the camera head, and it is sent to the CCU. A voltage of the DC element in the intercom return signal in standby mode is detected, and when the detected voltage exceeds a specified value, an AC power supply is supplied to the camera head to set to operate mode.
