PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the maintainability of an image forming apparatus and its cost effectiveness by prolonging the service life of an intermediate transfer cleaner to clean an intermediate transfer medium for secondarily transferring a development image consisting of a liquid developer that is formed on a photoreceptor on a paper sheet. SOLUTION: The cleaning member of the intermediate transfer roll 27 is a stack sheet 31 which is hung on a discharge roller 32 and a winding roller 33, and obtained by stacking an adhesive layer 31b consisting of a resin which having a glass transition point equal to or less than a room temperature on a film substrate 31a. While running the stack sheet 31 in contact with the intermediate transfer roll at the same peripheral velocity as that of the intermediate transfer roll by driving a winding roller 33, a contact part is heated at a temperature equal to or more than that of the glass transition point to obtain adhesiveness, and fouls adhered to the intermediate transfer roll 27 is removed. After cleaning of a prescribed amount is performed, the stack sheet 31 is rewound by the discharge roller 32 to reuse.
