PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver that displays image compression data compressed by a prescribed format on nearly the entire display available area of a display means while keeping the circulavity. SOLUTION: A JPEG decode section 21 detects the size of an image of image data after decoding stored in a JPEG image compression data from a memory card 6, outputs the image size information to a CPU 25 when the image size exceeds the display available area of a CRT display device 3 and the usage rate of a memory section 22 exceeds a limit value, decodes the JPEG image compression data on the memory section 22 to generate image data, and interleaves the data by e.g. a half in the horizontal and vertical directions. An image data processing section 23 magnifies or reduces the image data so that the image data can be displayed nearly over the entire display area without changing the aspect ratio on the basis of a magnification/reduction rate decided by the CPU 25 through a comparison between the image size and the display available area of the CRT display device 3. |
