PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism which can flexibly develop business with service improvement, for example, by using an inexpensive common picture as a background picture to be reproduced in a karaoke performance for a new song whose future popularity is unknown for the time being and preparing an exclusive matching picture for a popular karaoke song. SOLUTION: A forming method for a karaoke background picture is characterized in that when a mode wherein picture data are properly taken out of a common picture database and displayed as a background picture and a mode wherein picture data exclusively for a song A received from a picture server are displayed are discriminatingly used on a karaoke playing terminal when an accompaniment is outputted according to the karaoke music data of the song A and a lyrics subtitle synchronized with music progression is displayed. This method is applied to a communication karaoke system and the karaoke playing terminal.
