During the solvent steeping process the parts of the tire are agitated mechanically and subjected to repeated shocks, while the solvent temperature is maintained at 30 - 40 deg C. The apparatus used for the procedure includes a unit (10) on which the tire tread is abraded, a chamber (20) in which the tire parts are steeped in the solvent, a separating unit (30) for the rubber and metal components, and a sorting unit (40).
