PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light weight label having an ink jet recording surface with gloss, provided with a tacky adhesive layer which can be easily affixed and excellent in masking properties for masking the surface of the body to be affixed. SOLUTION: In the label for ink jet recording wherein at least one coating layer, whose uppermost layer is a gloss developing layer, is formed on one surface of a gas permeable substrate and the tacky adhesive layer is formed on other side, the gloss developing layer is brought into pressure contact with a heated mirror roll to be mirror-gloss-finished while being in a wet state, pigment having refractive index of >=1.60 is contained in any of the coating layer, the tacky adhesive layer and the substrate. The label has >=80% opacity. The substrate is preferably a paper having <=80 g/m<2> basis weight. The gloss developing layer contains inorganic fine particles preferably having <=100 nm average diameter and more preferably being alumina compound or colloidal silica. The pigment having refractive index of >=1.60 is preferably titanium oxide. |
