PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin-model permanent magnet type generator which is thin, does not have wasteful spaces, and is reduced in cogging torque simultaneously. SOLUTION: This is a thin-model permanent magnet generator which has a disk 11 of a soft magnetic substance which rotates with a shaft, and a permanent magnet 212 fixed to one end surface of the disk. The permanent magnet has a plurality of rotor poles 213, 214, etc., arranged side by side in the circumferential direction. These poles are formed in a disk-shaped rotor 21 into polarities differently and alternately in the circumferential direction. Moreover, the generator has a stator 22 provided with a plurality of pole teeth 221 which have, at one-side ends, a plurality of stator poles 222 opposed to the rotor poles with axial magnetic air gaps between, and stretch toward the radial outside from the stator poles, coils 224 wound between the pole teeth, and a yoke 223 of a soft magnetic substance which connects the other ends of the pole teeth to one another. Soft magnetic pieces 228, 228' are formed in at least parts of the stator pole surfaces opposed to the rotor poles, when the rotor is stopped so as to make the stator poles opposed to the rotor poles.
