The electron gun has a cathode conductor and a network of micro emitters for cold emissions. Transmission is by field effect producing a micro electron beam. An extraction electrode is placed above the cathode conductor and pierced with openings above the micro transmitters. A collimator electrode reduces the transmission angle of the micro beams. The electron gun has a focussing electrode (63). The gun has a micro beam converger (23,53) converging the beam in a virtual zone (40) behind the cathode opposite the focussing electrode.
