PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a characteristics adjusting method of an image forming device that is capable of adjusting the characteristics of a multiple electron source by a simple process and making uniform the surface emission characteristics of the image display, by utilizing the unique nature of the electron emitting element, and a manufacturing method of the image forming device, and the image forming device and the characteristics adjusting device. SOLUTION: The method comprises a measurement process in which the display panel 301 of the image forming device is divided into a plurality of regions and the emission characteristics of at least one or more electron emitting elements in the divided respective region is measured, and a shifting process in which the emission characteristics of the electron emitting elements in the divided region is shifted to an individual characteristics target value by impressing a characteristics sifting voltage to the electron emitting element.
