摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool and a machine tool speed setting method which can set an optimal machining speed in response to a machining shape. SOLUTION: A method and machine tool classifies a part of workpieces into a region in accordance with a shape of the workpieces, sets a machining speed in accordance with characteristics for each classified region, and implements the machining based upon the machining speed being set. The machine tool also decides an inflection point base upon the shape for a part of machining object, set the machining speed in response to the characteristics of the inflection points being decided, and implements the machining based upon the machining speed being set. Consequently, the machine tool separates the 'region' that corresponds to the total or the part of the machining object from the 'inflection point', and sets the machining speed in response to the separated 'regions (straight lines, curves in response to curvature)' or the separated 'inflection points(continuous(no bend angle), a large bend angle, an edge with a small angle)'.
