PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve image quality and to prolong the service life of an apparatus by preventing the poor squeeze of the surplus liquid developer of a liquid developer image during formation of a full color image, and to realize reduction of cost by saving the consumption of the liquid developer. SOLUTION: Developing devices 18Y to 18K which are promptly replaceable after a development operation for each color and have liquid developers of yellow (Y), magenta (M), cyan (C) and black (K) are disposed at development positions surrounding a photoreceptor drum 12. Squeeze devices 23Y to 23K for each color which continues the squeeze operation of the surplus liquid developer on the photoreceptor drum 12 after the passage of the rear end of the developing region of a previous color until the development operation of a following color is started are disposed at the downstream of the developing devices 18Y to 18K. Circulating devices 35Y to 35K transport the surplus liquid developer recovered by the squeeze devices 23Y to 23K for each color to the developing devices 18Y to 18K to reuse the liquid developer. |
