PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device by which an on-period of a switching device according to an input current value can be controlled in a simple construction, and thus the waveform of an input current can be brought close to a sine wave to reduce higher harmonic components, and an illuminating apparatus. SOLUTION: A current of a switching device 45, which directly circulates an input current from a rectifier 43, among switching devices of a high-frequency generator is detected to control the on-period of the switching device, which directly circulates the input current from the rectifier, by the overall feedback of the detected current value. The waveform of the input current from the rectifier 43 is thereby brought close to a sine wave. |
