METHOD OF REINITIALIZING ADSL MODEM AND THE ADSL MODEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reinitializing method that can efficiently perform reinitializing processing without stopping data communication. SOLUTION: The reinitializing method includes: steps (ST504, ST524) of monitoring a communication state during data communication, steps (ST505, ST525) of determining whether the present communication state requires the reinitializing; a step (ST528) of requesting an opposite ADSL MODEM to conduct reinitializing by transmitting a ClearEOC to the opposite ADSL modem when the reinitializing is required, and a step (ST532) of executing the reinitializing after the lapse of a prescribed time when receiving a reply with respect to the reinitializing request from the opposite ADSL modem in a step (ST529).
