The gear box for a vehicle with an IC engine (1) has a drive string consisting of two hollow shafts (2, 3). These carry gears (20 -23; 30, 31) and surround a solid shaft (4) which is connected to a clutch (5) and the engine. The clutch is positioned at the opposite end of the drive string from the engine and is also attached to one of the hollow shafts (2). This shaft has a section (200) which fits inside the second hollow shaft so that centering of the two shafts is assured.
