The high-pressure cleaner has a pressure line (3) in which a pressure medium is fed by a HP pump to a jet nozzle (4). A restrictor (2) is provided between the nozzle and pressure line in order to reduce the inlet pressure of the medium when it is heated. The orifice of the restrictor is variable in its width. The restrictor has an axially extending throttling piston (7) enclosed by a sleeve (6), thereby forming the restricting orifice. The throttling piston and inside bore of the sleeve accommodating it are conical in construction.
