Two stage bioreactor for treatment of animal or vegetable biomass, especially slurry, comprising: (a) a prereactor (10) for acid formation which is mounted inside a sealed main reactor (20) in which methane is formed; and (b) a S-shaped siphon (11) at the base of the prereactor which feeds biomass on to the surface (21) of the material in the main tank, is new.
