A device for filtering fluids conveyed under high pressure comprises an inlet opening (21), an outlet opening (24) and a metallic housing (2) surrounding a filter chamber (23). The housing has a maintenance opening (3, 4) closed by a metallic lid (14, 15) which sits under a pressing force on an edge section (5, 6) surrounding the maintenance opening in direct contact with the metal of the housing. The edge surface (7, 8) of the edge section assigned to the lid runs at an angle between its inner limiting edge (10) and its outer limiting edge (12). The edge surface includes an angle deviating from 90 deg with the inner surface (9) and the outer surface (11) of the edge section. The contact surface between the lid and the edge section is limited to a breaking part of the edge surface. A filter element (26) is arranged in the filter chamber. Preferred Features: The filter element is formed as a filter body placed on one of the walls surrounding the filter chamber. The filter element with its sealing surface (27) surrounds a waste opening (24). The filter element is cylindrical and the housing is tubular.
