<p>4-Oxoquinolizine antimicrobials having 2-pyridone skeleton as partial structure are provided, which have potent antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and -negative bacteria and anaerobic bacteria. The antimicrobials are compounds represented by the general formula (I) or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof: (I) wherein R1 is hydrogen or a carboxyl-protecting group; R2 is hydrogen, halogeno, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, or hydroxyl; R3 is phenyl or a five- or six-membered aromatic heterocyclic group, which has a substituent selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, nitro, cyano, amino, acyl, carbamoyl, and ureido; and R4 is hydrogen or halogeno.</p> |
