<p>The device (10), designed as a cylinder (12) accommodating a piston (14), a pulling device (24) attached to the piston (14) and transferring the motion of the piston (14) to the seat belt, a gas generator (18) driving the piston (14), a pushing element (46) connected to the pulling device (24), and a deforming pipe (42) arranged between piston (14) and pushing element (46). The deforming pipe (42) is made of a special compound and pushed against the piston (14) when the pulling forces exceed a certain level. The deformation of the pipe (42) facilitates the pulling element (24) to yield and to reduce the strain acting on the passenger.</p> |
