STAINLESS STEEL-COPPER CLAD AND METHOD FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF

A stainless steel-copper clad characterized in that it comprises copper and a high manganese austenitic stainless steel having a manganese content of 9 to 16 mass % which are joined by metallic joining; and a method for producing t he stainless steel-copper clad which comprises piling a first thin plate comprising the high manganese austenitic stainless steel, a second thin plat e comprising copper and a third thin plate of a heat-resistant steel acting as a releasing material in this order and winding them into a coil, and then subjecting the resulting coil to vacuum annealing, to thereby join the first and second thin plates to each other and produce a high manganese austenitic stainless steel-copper clad. The stainless steel-copper clad combines good high temperature strength sufficient to be less prone to deformation and practically usable at a high temperature and high thermal conductivity.
