The identification device (11) has an embedded circuit responding to an electromagnetic signal received from a child seat recognition device associated with an automobile seat, for re-transmitting the signal back to the recognition device. The identification device responds to a defined mechanical manipulation, e.g. upon fixing to the child seat, for switching between an inactive and an active state.
