Polypeptides that can protect axons from axon degeneration and methods of us e of the polypeptides are presented. Polynucleotides that can protect axons fr om axon degeneration and methods of use of the polynucleotides are presented. I n addition, polynucleotides that encode the polypeptides referred to above are presented. Further, pharmaceutical compositions to treat conditions are presented.
