This invention concerns a method for producing a lightweight end wall of a container as well as an unpressurized thermoplastic container, the mantle of which being a lightweight tube manufactured from a spirally wound hollow profile and the end wall of which being fixed by welding. The invention is characterized in that a thermoplastics hollow profile is spirally wound and adjacent rounds are welded together in order to produce a lightweight tube, from which tube a piece is cut to forma pre-form of the end wall, the pre-fo rm is heated into a mouldable state and pressed to a dome shape between a male and a female mould-half, the edges of the mould piece are machine-tooled aft er cooling to match the cross section of the container mantle, and the thus obtained end wall piece is fixed to the mantle of the container by welding.< /SDOAB> |
