An input device for electronic equipment is described which comprises a display screen (16). Objects (18), which may be smaller in size than a fingertip, are displayed on the screen (16) for selection by the user. A touch pad detects the position of a fingertip which is used to point at one of the displayed objects. The object at which the user is currently pointing is highlighted (22) to distinguish it from the other objects (18) available for selection. To avoid incorrect data entry, after its selection, the highlighted object can inputted into the electronic equipment under the control of the same fingertip without the need for the fingertip to be removed from the screen. |
