The child safety seat (2) has a cushion component (3) provided with seat and backrest sections (5,6) fitted to a rigid shell or a semi-rigid frame (4) and defined by a sleeve (7) filled with a loose material (9), which is evacuated for moulding it to the shape of the seated child. The cushion component contains a gas cartridge (11), activated in the event of a collision for reducing the vacuum, to allow absorption of impact energy.
