FIELD: electrical engineering; pulse current supply to ac loads having linear or varying nonlinear and threshold current-voltage characteristic, such as gas-discharge lamps. SUBSTANCE: voltage converter of first design alternative has controllable pulse voltage source whose leads are connected to recuperation switch for turning on controllable voltage source during space and its turning off during pulse; connected to leads of this switch through choke coil are load connection leads; control input of pulse voltage source is connected to output of control device which is free to control and regulate desired electrical parameter of load, for instance load current, by varying proportion between pulse and space lengths across its output due to control and feedback signals. Voltage converter of second design alternative has voltage source whose inputs are connected to series circuit set up of choke coil and regulating switch; connected in parallel to the latter are load connection leads; control input of regulating switch is connected to output of control device; the latter is capable of regulating and stabilizing desired electrical parameter of load, for instance load current, by varying proportion between ON- and OFF-state lengths due to control and feedback signals. Voltage converter of third design alternative has controllable pulse voltage source whose leads are connected to choke coil; connected to the latter are load connection leads; control input of mentioned pulse voltage source is connected to output of control device which is free to regulate and stabilize desired electrical parameter of load, for instance load current, by varying proportion between pulse and space lengths across its output due to control and feedback signals.
