The invention relates to a respiratory air filter. Known filter devices have a half mask and a filter element. Filter devices of this type have a complex construction. The aim of the invention therefore is to provide a respiratory air filter, which has a simple construction and is inexpensive to produce. This is achieved by a respiratory air filter (10) comprising an air-permeable sleeve (11) and at least one filter layer (12, 12') that is located in said sleeve (11) and contains activated carbon.
