PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrial method by which a fatty acid hydroxycarboxylic acid ester salt can be produced in a high purity at a low cost. SOLUTION: This method for producing the fatty acid hydroxycarboxylic acid ester salt comprises bringing a hydroxycarboxylic acid into contact with an alkali catalyst and then reacting the product with a long chain fatty acid lower alcohol ester.
