PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device for preventing the collapse of recording media during setting the recording media. SOLUTION: The recording device comprises stopping means 100 for stopping separating and returning means 42 at a position of the separating and returning means in the state of returning a recording media in a lower layer to a hopper 3. Thus, if the recording media are strongly pushed therein during setting the recording media, the separating and returning means is prevented from falling down, therefore preventing the collapse of the recording media and permitting the stable supply of the recording media.
