Regions or objects of interest within an image, consisting of an array of image pixels, are identified. The pixels are sequentially scanned with each pixel being scanned only once. The resulting data is processed to identify significant pixels, and to assign these to an image segment which may contain a number of such neighbouring pixels. A summary data output is quickly and easily produced relating to the segment or segments identified in the image without the need for further processing. |
