PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pile construction method capable of burying a drain material in the outer periphery of a steel pipe pile in constructing the steel pipe pile with a drilling spiral blade. SOLUTION: This construction method for the steel pipe pile 1 uses the steel pipe pile 1 having an annular plate 4 provided in the outer periphery of a pile body 3 at a required height and a drilling spiral blade 5 in the outer periphery of the pile body below the annular plate 4, and a easing 2 fitted to the outer periphery of the pile body above the annular plate 4, the lower end of which is temporarily stopped on the annular plate 4 to form a space up to the pile body 3. The method includes a process of filling a space between the pile body 3 and the casing 2 with drain material, a process of applying turning force and push-in force at least one of the pile body 3 and the casing 2 to sink the steel pipe pile in the ground with the casing 2, and a process of pulling up the casing 2 to leave behind the drain material 10 between the pile body 3 and the ground after reaching a designated depth to form a drain layer 11.
