PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an actuator for a variable optical attenuator that is realized without using a gear head at a low cost so as to attain fine adjustment of an attenuation of a luminous quantity passing through an optical fiber coupler by avoiding a drive error caused by a propagation delay due to backlash at all. SOLUTION: The actuator for variable optical attenuator comprises a coupler bending member and its drive member, the drive member comprises a motor, a rotary shaft, a lead screw placed integrally with the rotary shaft, and a slider screwed with the lead screw, the lead screw is turned along the rotary shaft, the slider is moved straight on the lead screw shaft line in interlocking with the turning direction, and the coupler bending member is moved with the straight forward movement to bend the optical fiber coupler. |
