PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting construction having excellent workability when connecting an end portion to side face portion of structural members of a building and also offering connections between structural members of the building at arbitrary intervals. SOLUTION: An end portion 14 of a sub-component 12 which is a structural member 10 having a cross section almost square and a side face portion 13 of a main structural member 11 are connected together with a connecting device 20. The structural member 10 has gutters 17 and 17 symmetrically about a center line L in a longitudinal direction along each of side faces 15 and 16. The first connecting portion 21 of the connecting device 20 is equipped with a pair of opposite portions 22 and 23 and a middle portion 24 and is fitted to a side face portion 13 of the main structural member 11 straddling three surfaces 15, 16 and 16 of the main structural member 11. The second connecting portion 29 of the connecting device 20 is fitted to the end portion 14 of the structural member. Projections 25 and 25 respectively fitted to gutters 17 and 17 are provided at the opposite portions 22 and 23 of the first connecting portion 21.
