PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent having especially excellent cleanability of mud stains attached to clothes. SOLUTION: The detergent contains (A) an organic amine salt of a carboxy- containing polymer and (B) a nonionic surfactant produced by the addition reaction of (b1) an alkylene oxide to (a1) an aliphatic alcohol and satisfying the following requirements (1) and (2). (1) The weight average molecular weight (Mw) and the number-average molecular weight (Mn) satisfy the formula (3) or (4). Mw/Mn<=0.03Ln(v)+1.010 (v<10)... (3); Mw/Mn<=-0.026Ln(v)+1.139 (v>=10)... (4) ((v) is the average addition molar number of (b1) per 1 mol of (a1)) and (2) the distribution constant c calculated by formula (5) is <=2.0; c=(v+n0 /n00 -1)/[Ln(n00 /n0 )+n0 /n00 -1]... (5) (n00 is the molar number of (a1) used it the reaction; and n0 is the molar number of unreacted (a1)).
