PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for the easy industrial production of a benzofuran derivative having 2,3-dihydrobenzofuran ring in high efficiency. SOLUTION: A compound of formula 4 (A is a benzene ring which may have substituents in addition to the group W) or its salt is produced by reacting a compound expressed by formula 1 (R<1> and R<2> are each independently H, a (substituted)hydrocarbon group, a (substituted) heterocyclic group or the like; Y is a halogen atom; the ring A is a benzene ring which may have substituents in addition to the group Y; and the ring B is a (substituted)benzene ring) or its salt with a compound of formula WH [W is group of formula 2 or formula 3; the ring C is a (substituted) benzene ring; the ring D is a (substituted)5-7- membered nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group; R<3> is H, an aliphatic hydrocarbon group having aromatic group or an acyl group; R<4> is H, a (substituted) hydrocarbon group or acyl group or the like) or its salt and optionally deprotecting the reaction product.
