PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silk nonwoven fabric usable as e.g. a clothing fabric having a combination of wear resistance with smooth touch feeling peculiar to silk textile fiber. SOLUTION: The objective method for producing the silk nonwoven fabric comprises the following procedure: silk fibers are crimped and then impregnated with a water-soluble polymer to set the crimpiness, the resultant silk fibers are cut even to a given length into silk staple fibers, which are then interlaced by a carding machine to form webs; subsequently, both sides of a meshy fabric are laminated with the webs to form web layers, and high-pressure water jet streams are then externally blown against the respective web layers to wash away the water-soluble polymer impregnated in the silk staple fibers of the respective web layers and concurrently effect three-dimensional interlacing between the silk staple fibers of the respective webs, between the silk staple fibers of the web laminated on one side of the meshy fabric and those of the other web laminated on the other side of the meshy fabric, and between the silk staple fibers of the respective web layers and the filaments of the meshy fabric.
