PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To freeze a foodstuff while keeping its raw texture and components so that the thawed and cooked foodstuff can taste almost like the original foodstuff. SOLUTION: The freezer comprises a freezer compartment 3, a cooling device 4 for cooling the inside of the freezer compartment 3, a foodstuff selecting means for inputting the kind of a foodstuff 2 set in the freezer compartment 3, and a cooling speed control device 7 for controlling the speed of cooling the foodstuff 2 based on the inputted kind of the foodstuff.
