PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous method for producing an anthracene diether by which the high-purity anthracene diether can be produced in high yield. SOLUTION: An alkali salt of 9,10-anthracenediol is reacted with an etherifying agent such as an alkyl halide in an aqueous solution in the presence of a quaternary ammonium compound, etc. Thereby, the method is provided.
