PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relay pump tank which allows waste water treatment equipment to stably provide waste water treatment and enables the downsizing of the equipment. SOLUTION: In this relay pump tank, a relay tank 7 for receiving waste water from a waste water source (disposer 4) is equipped with a water level sensor 9, which detects a water level, and a pump 8 which discharges the waste water into the waste water treatment equipment 11 when the detected water level becomes equal to/higher than a fixed water level; and the pump 8 is selected or controlled so that the amount of a discharge into the equipment 11 from the relay tank 7 for a prescribed period of time can be smaller than the maximum amount of an inflow into the relay tank 7 for the prescribed period of time. Furthermore, an overflow port 7c for an overflow to a place, into which sewage and the like are to be discharged, is formed at a point H3 which is located above a maximum water level rising from a point at the maximum water level at which the pump 8 does not start to operate, by virtue of a difference between the amount of the inflow into the relay tank 7 and the amount of the discharge into the equipment 11 from the relay tank 7 for the prescribed period of time.
