PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device that can enlarge an observation area visible from the top side of a car and enlarge a light irradiation area of external light entering from the top side. SOLUTION: The car 3 has side walls 5 arranged at four side faces, floor plates 6 provided at a lower face surrounded by the side walls 5, and a glass pane 7 which is a light transmitting member provided at the whole face of the top part surrounded by the side walls 5. In the car 3, the inside is constituted as a cage 8, and the light transmitting glass pane 7 is fixed to the upper end of each side wall through a sealing material 9. The side wall 5 on the rear face side is composed of a glass pane 5a which is a light transmitting member excluding a part below, and this glass pane 5 and a lower plate member 5b are also fixed through a sealing material 9. The observation area visible from the top side of the car can be enlarged, and the light irradiation area of external light entering from the top side can be enlarged.
