The holder comprises spaced support arms (3, 4) projecting away from a wheel support (2) which is held for swivel movement through bearings on the vehicle superstructure. The support arms are connected at the ends to the bearings (5, 6) and form a vertical swivel axis (7) which is mounted independently of a swivel axis of the boot flap. The wheel support can swivel about this vertical swivel axis into a fixed position against the vehicle boot and is held through a supporting part in a holder on the shock absorber cross bar. The wheel support can swivel freely into a release position away from the boot flap.
